Student of the Year

Prior Award Recipients

The Student of the Year Award is the most prestigious honor presented to a student at Utah Tech, and this award celebrates “active learning. active life.” by recognizing an outstanding “all-around” student. The student has left their mark at the school and had a significant impact on the university as a whole. Nomination forms are reviewed by a preliminary screening panel, evaluated against the category criteria to narrow the competitive field, and then five finalists are selected. These finalists are contacted and invited to participate in a private interview where a separate panel selects the winner.

This award recognizes a student who has distinguished themselves as outstanding through:

  • Serving Utah Tech and the community in a variety of ways
  • Being actively involved in numerous Utah Tech teams, clubs, or organizations
  • Attending a variety of university-sponsored events in support of other students
  • Advocating for Utah Tech and our mission
  • Leading students in a way that enhances the success of the university
  • Succeeding in the classroom by maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5
  • Completing three or more semesters of full-time enrollment at Utah Tech prior to their nomination
